Ahmedabad to Dwarka is a classic Gujarat road trip, especially for people visiting the famous Dwarkadhish Temple. Dwarka is known as one of the Char Dham and an important Krishna pilgrimage spot, so this route is very popular with families and groups.
Traveling by road gives you a lot of freedom. You can leave Ahmedabad early, take your time with tea and meal breaks, and get to Dwarka at your own pace instead of having to rush to catch a train or bus. If you plan a few good breaks, driving a self-drive car from Ahmedabad is very doable.
Most people drive from Ahmedabad to Limbdi to Rajkot to Jamnagar to Dwarka, mostly on NH 47 and other highways that connect to it. In general, the roads are pretty good. There are some busy spots near big towns and some stretches of highway.
You can usually get to Dwarka by mid- to late-afternoon if you leave Ahmedabad between 5 and 6 AM. This is a good time to check in, get ready for the night, and do a darshan.
Once you reach Dwarka, most of your time goes into temple visits and peaceful walks around the ghats. Some key places to keep in your plan:
The main attraction. It gets crowded during aarti times, but the experience is worth it.
Right next to the temple, with steps going down to the river and a very traditional vibe.
A short drive from the main town, dedicated to Rukmini, considered the consort of Lord Krishna.
A famous Shiva temple located roughly 15 to 20 km from Dwarka (check local distance and timings once you reach).
An island temple that you reach by boat from Okha. It usually takes a half-day if you include travel and waiting time.
A clean, popular beach a short drive from Dwarka, nice for a quiet evening by the sea.
With two or three days in hand, you can comfortably cover all of these without rushing.
If you plan it well, the Ahmedabad to Dwarka drive turns into a smooth mix of pilgrimage, coastal views and relaxed highway time.
